A lot of places in the world rely on tourism - essay

A lot of places in the world rely on tourism as a main source of income. Unfortunately, tourism can also be a source of problems if it is not managed correctly.
Describe the advantages and disadvantages of tourism in the modern world. Do you think that benefits of tourism outweigh its drawbacks?

Over the last few years, the tourist industry has been growing enormously. While tourism generates a significant portion of income for many countries around the world, there are also drawbacks to consider. This essay will examine the advantages and disadvantages of tourism before arriving at a reasonable conclusion.

First and foremost, it is true that tourism contributes to the economy of a nation as well a large number of employment opportunities for local inhabitants. Tourists spend a lot money on various services such as hotels, transportation, food and medical, due to the fact that, economy of the nation is getting stronger. In addition, tourism increases employment for local people by bringing new jobs. For example, the rush of tourists results into more demand of hotels, tourist guider and many more, this encourage local business to hire more people to fulfill the needs.

However, tourism also has some drawbacks affecting the environment and state of cleanliness of popular tourist places. For example, Bali, a destination which is located in  the Southeast of Indonesia, has been getting hotter day by day, due to the increasing number of tourists. In the past few years, the average temperature got increased from 25 to 28 degree Celsius. Moreover, most of the places lack of cleanliness because of overcrowd in these places.

In conclusion, although tourism has some drawbacks such as environmental impact and cleanliness, however, it has a positive impact on the economy of the country and provide a large number of jobs. I believe that advantages totally outweigh the disadvantages.

Letter - On a holiday you lost a valuable item

On a recent holiday you lost a valuable item. Fortunately you have travel insurance to cover the cost of anything you lost.
Write a letter to the manager of your insurance company. In your letter

  • describe the item you lost
  • explain how you lost it
  • tell the insurance company what you would like them to do.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing this letter in connection with a claim of an item which I lost during my summer trip.

Although, I am very conscious person to take care about all of my belonging. However, I lost a precious watch which I purchased last month. It was an Apple series 4 watch, and the serial number is '4WBSL', which is a unique number.

I vividly remember I put this watch in my backpack when I went to participate in a swimming activity. Unfortunately, when I came back, the watch was not in my bag, it might be stolen by thieves.

As I already purchased 'Platinum Insurance Policy', of your company, therefore, I am eligible to claim the full amount of that product. I filled the online claim form on your official website, and my reference number is 14253. So, I would like you to process this claim as soon as possible you can.

I look forward to receive a positive response from your side.

Yours faithfully,

Ranjeet Singh

Small Shops closed because customers travel to Malls band 7

In recent years, many small local shops have closed because customers travel to large shopping centres or malls to do their shopping.
Is this a positive or negative development?

It is true, in the modern era, people are fond of shopping, especially in the malls because they love to buy branded materialistic items. However, in recent years, numerous small shops have closed because customers like to do shopping in the malls. This essay will examine both points of the view before arriving at a reasonable conclusion.

Nowadays, people have more disposable income, due to the fact that, they are just wasting their money in unwanted shopping. Most of the products in shopping malls are from big brands like Levis, Gucci and many more. However, these brands are extremely expensive. Moreover, if we consider the case of India, most of the brands are imported from outside of the country. Therefore, shopping of these brands by local people is ultimately affecting the economy of the nation. For example, if a person buys a mobile phone of a company 'Apple', due to that a big portion of money goes outside of the country.

On the other hand, if it is a case of quality of the item, then mall is the best place for shopping. Although, local shops have products at an affordable price, however, the quality of the product is mostly poor. Big shopping malls are also beneficial for those who want all the essential products at one place or under one roof. Furthermore, inside environment of the mall is always congenial and temperature is maintained because of centralized Air Conditioner (AC) in all parts of the mall. Ergo, malls are the best place for shopping and to spend some good amount of time with family members or friends.

In conclusion, despite the fact that, big shopping malls have a lot benefits in all aspects of shopping, but, local shops are also important to maintain the balance in the economy. In my view, both malls and local shops are important and have their own advantages and disadvantages.

Learning English at school or other languages band 8.5

Learning English at school is often seen as more important than learning local languages. If these are not taught, many are at risk of dying out. In your opinion, is it important for everyone to learn English ? Should we try to ensure the survival of local languages and, if so, how ?

Needless to say, English is one of the most used languages in the world. This is because, it is a global language, therefore it is extremely important for everyone to learn it. However, preserving local languages is also crucial to keep a culture alive.

Nowadays, due to advancement in technology, world became a global village, and for that, people want a single language to communicate, which could be English. Presently, most of the international business deals are written and signed in the English language. To illustrate that, a study conducted by the University of London shows that, 80% of international companies and their businesses are connected using English. Furthermore, these days, majority of multinational corporations require English as a mandatory language for their employees. For example, Google is hiring only those candidates who are competent in English language. Therefore, it is necessary, people should learn English language to survive in this world in a better way indeed.

Preservation of local languages from the risk of dying out is also important to keep the culture alive for upcoming generations. A vernacular gives modern people a window to the past, and this encourages worldwide understanding of that particular culture. It is believed that without a mother language it is extremely tough to know about the traditions of that area, such as foods, clothes and many more. Moreover, a language also gives a person his/her unique identity in the world. For instance, a person who is speaking Punjabi will always belong to Punjab.

In conclusion, although, English is the highest used language in the world because it is a global language, but local languages are also equally important to keep the civilization alive for future generations. In my view, people should learn both English and their respective local dialect for their development and preserving their cultures respectively.

Learn something in a Group or Individually band 8

Many people believe that it's better to learn something in a gorup, rather than learning it individually. Do you agree or disagree?

Needless to say, every human being has his/her own manners of learning. Some people believe that, learn something in a group is better because it is efficient, and others find, sometimes, nature of content matters most therefore learning as an individual is an appropriate process to gain knowledge.

Studying in a batch of people is an efficient technique to learn something. This is because every single person has their own way of thinking, and they can discuss a single notion with multiple point of views, and at the end, they can come to a single efficient solution. To illustrate, it is believed that a circle of three people can solve a problem more efficiently as compared to an individual person. In contrast, if the same work or problem solved by an individual, there are several chances, the solution will not be efficient, and his/her knowledge about that particular work will be remain same.

However, sometimes, the nature of the content also matters. In these situations, people like to study alone because they do not want to discuss openly with other people. For example, content related to sex education, a study conducted by the University of London shows that 90% of people are shy in nature, and they do not find themselves comfortable to discuss and learn about sex education in groups. Ergo, it is better that, they should study about that privately because it is an extremely important part of our life.

In conclusion, although, group studies is a comprehensive strategy to gain knowledge, but, we should also take into account, the privacy of an individual. In my view, expanding someone's horizon much more important than the procedure of learning, and both the methods of learning is efficient according to different circumstances.
